From 2011 to 2015 ; Research laboratoty EnsadLab into the École Nationale Superieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris. Post graduated studies.
Research conducted by ENSAD professors Μ. Skoulatou and G. Kalikow as well as by students-researchers.
2011-2012
Collaboration with Laure Petit, PhD candidate at ENS
Collaboration with ENER team of EnsadLab
Collaboration with:
- Τhe research workshop on Ancient Greek Dramaturgy, École Normale Supérieure, ULM
- University of Ioannina, Greece - Department of Philology
Τhe first year was organized around seminars with the following objectives:
- Introduction to the characteristics of the theatrical space and stage in Ancient Greek Theatre
- Analysis of ancient dramaturgy and correlation of the text with its "mise en espace"
- Analysis of the space of the drama
- Experimentation on the "mise en espace" of texts in the open air
- Work on several hypotheses and solutions for the "mise en espace" of a text with the help of the virtual space developed by ENER.
During the first year the team achieved its objectives. The task has led to the publication of articles and space projects based on text extracts.
2012-2013
Collaboration with the ENER team of EnsadLab
In the second year the objectives of the research did not change but were
focused on two specific texts, a comedy and a tragedy,
- The Bacchae by Euripides and
- The Frogs by Aristophanes,
as well as on two virtual spaces that were to serve as tools for the representation of different hypotheses of "mise en espace"
- closed theatre,
- ancient open-air theatre.
The project was completed with a workshop on Euripides' Bacchae held at the Salle Noire of Ensad in collaboration with A.Latifses (PhD candidate of ENS) and A.Volanakis (theatre director and professor).
The workshop lasted for one week and offered the team the opportunity to
test in life-size the different hypotheses that resulted from the text analysis
with the help of simple objects that existed in the room.
Regardless of their grade, Ensad students attended the workshop alongside their studies.
IN PARALLEL
July 2012
Organization of a one-week workshop-seminar in a 17th century monastery in Greece.
The first collaboration of the team with classical theorists and theatre professionals was organized by M. Skoulatou in the refurbished premises of a monastery in Mt. Pelion in Greece.
The workshop provided the opportunity for an interaction between classical literature and the "mise en espace" around the relation of sense and space in Ancient Greek Theatre.
The analysis of certain extracts led to several hypotheses of "mise en espace"
July 2013
At the end of the second academic year the team continues its activities outside the academic framework with a new workshop held at the ancient theatre of Dimitrias in Volos, Greece. This time the focus was given on the Bacchae by Euripides, a text that had meticulously been studied during the year. After the internal experimentation at the Salle Noire of Ensad (closed space) a new experimentation was attempted in an open-air space, this time at the ancient theatre of Dimitrias.
Theoretical interventions had taken place in the morning in the conference room of the Archaeological Museum of Volos.
2014-2015
Following a change due to the retirement of the founder, Ms Miranda Skoulatou, THEATRA was renamed THEATRA ΙΙ and continues its autonomous activities.
THEATRA ΙΙ team established a non-profit association in Paris, according to
